The Diploma of Software Engineering is the perfect way to gain the technical and theoretical foundations you need to start out in the industry. This is your chance to understand the fundamentals of software engineering and to specialise in either Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing or Game Programming. Graduates will understand the fundamentals of algorithm and data structure design, software engineering project management and ethical development and research practices. From here, you can move directly into a specialised bachelor or get straight to work in the industry.
The Diploma of Software Engineering qualification is embedded within a suite of courses offering fundamentals in software engineering knowledge and skills with three specialisations available: Game Programming, Artificial Intelligence and Cloud Computing. The structure of these courses consist of a common Software Engineering Core, Specialisation and Elective subjects. This diploma is comprised of software engineering core and elective subjects from the three respective undergraduate software engineering specialisations. Careers in Information Technology and Design have evolved significantly in the past decade to include new and emerging fields and specialisations that reflect the digital world that we now live in. This diploma offers students an opportunity to explore the field of software engineering, development of fundamental skills for entry level industry, and pursue further higher education study in specialised software engineering disciplines.

DOMESTIC ADMISSIONS CRITERIA
Year 12 with ATAR 50 or equivalent OR speak to a Course and Career Advisor for special entry.
If you do not meet the ATAR requirements
Demonstrated ability to undertake study at this level:
- Relevant work experience, and/or other formal, informal or non-formal study attempted and/or completed, written submission to demonstrate reasonable prospects of success OR
- Design portfolio (6-10 pieces of original creative work)
INTERNATIONAL ADMISSION CRITERIA
- Australian Year 12 or equivalent; and
- Academic IELTS 5.5 (no band less than 5.0) or equivalent.
International students seeking student visas must comply with regulations from the Department of Home Affairs.
